Passion gives us a reason to live. To have a passion for something is just like loving something. Anyone can have a passion about anything. Someone could have a passion about a sport, singing, painting, another person, or anything else. My passion is dancing. Dancing is what I love, without it I don't know what I would do.
When I was younger I took ballet. I loved the recitals we would perform. One time I went to the front and center of the stage, and kept dancing while everyone else walked off stage. When my mom would take me to the grocery store I would practice my ballet routine in the isles. Basically, I practiced anywhere and anytime I could. That was sometimes a bad idea, like when i knocked over the Oreo display at the grocery store. I still practiced in the grocery store after that. As soon as I got home from school on weekdays, I would run downstairs and practice my routine. Sometimes I would make up my own routines, just for fun. I loved ballet, but they did not have a ballet team in high school.
When I got into high school I decided to try out for the colorguard team. I was so nervous. There were 75 girls trying out, and they were only taking 20. For the tryouts everyone had to do a dance, and spin a piece of equipment. Three days latter the tryouts were over, and the coach posted the list of the people who made the team. My name was on that list. I was so excited. Practices started a week after the tryouts were over. We learned a warmup dance routine, which I loved, and we practiced the basics of dancing. For example, keeping your feet pointed, jumps, and turns. Eventually we got into the fun stuff, like barrel jumps and illusions. When I was on the colorguard team we did not only practice ballet. We practiced every type of dance that there was. For example we practiced hip hop, jazz, and contemporary. Being on the colorguard team was loads of fun, and it took up a lot of hours. Over winter break and summer break we would have practices from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a two hour dinner break. Those were fun, but exhausting. I was on the colorguard team for all four years of my high school career. I didn't only dance on teams though, I also danced for fun in my spare time.
On the weekends I would go to different clubs in Chicago with my friends. We would get to the club at 9p.m. and we would leave whenever it closed. The clubs usually closed around 2 or 3 a.m., so we would dance for hours. It was my favorite thing to do on weekends. I loved standing in the middle of the floor, dancing the night away. To me that was the most fun thing in the world. On weekdays I would dance in school during passing period. My high school would play music during passing period, so every once in a while I would dance in the hallways. It had to be a good song playing though. On the drive to and from school, I would dance in my car. Basically I would flay my arms around and head bang. It was fun, especially when my little sister was in the car, she loved it when I danced. When i get the chance to dance I do.
Dancing is my passion, and without it I don't know what I would do. When I was little I was in ballet, and I practiced my routines every chance I got. When I got into high school I joined the colorguard team, and we did every type of dance there is. On the weekends I go to the clubs with my friends, and dance the night away. In my free time, I dance whenever I can. I love to dance, it's what makes me happy. Dancing is my passion.
